Facebook’s Small Business Grants Have Launched
The long-awaited COVID support from Facebook has now launched in the UK. Taking the lead from Google, who were quick to market and pay eligible accounts directly earlier this year, Facebook are the latest advertising giant to step up and support small business owners for some of the challenges faced due to the global pandemic.
Facebook’s Small Business Grants Programme has been launched to help over 30,000 businesses across 30 countries (with a total pot of USD 100M), in response to the tough time that has been had by small and medium businesses due to the disruption of COVID-19.
How to check if you are eligible and claim today!
Due to the application approval process, Infinity Nation are unable to apply for grants on our clients’ behalf, so you will need to check you comply with the following eligibility criteria:
- Have between 2 and 50 employees
- Have been in business for over a year
- Have experienced challenges due to COVID-19
- Be in or near a location where Facebook operates (right now, this means you are a London-based business)
The last point is a bit of a head scratcher. As you apply Facebook will allow you to select ‘UK’ for example as your region, which clearly Facebook operates in. On further inspection of the T&Cs this is restricted to particular cities – all of which are London boroughs, for the moment.
Our hope is that this is a pilot to see how the scheme is taken up and it will be rolled out to other cities in due course – watch this space.
How can the programme help?
The Small Business Grants Programme has been set up to support your business and get you back on track. Many small businesses had to pivot their offerings, often with a financial outlay for equipment modifications or initialy keeping staff paid whilst waiting for the Government’s Furlough scheme to kick in and reimburse from the first month’s salaries.
The programme has been set up with the intention of keeping your workforce going strong, helping with rent and operational costs, connecting with more customers and supporting your local community.
What documents will I need to complete the application?
In the UK, Facebook are partnering with Deloitte Ireland LLP and Quest Computing Ltd to administer the application process.
To proceed with the application today, ensure you have the following documents ready:
- Most recent annual return
- OR business registration / business license
- OR partnership agreement
