At the end of March our SEO Executive, Tilly, attended Confidence Live in Stoke-on Trent. A conference dedicated to making us feel more, well confident, Confidence Live was jam packed full of inspirational talks and useful tips for personal and professional growth.
This was a fantastic opportunity to develop personally and learn new skills to bring back to our team at Infinity Nation.
In this blog Tilly has highlighted some of the talks she enjoyed the most.
Confidence Live – key takeaways
Confidence Live was one of the most extra conferences I’ve ever been to, and it felt as though I was walking into a wedding or a 90s school disco, but I was so ok with that.
From the mid-conference group meditation to the confetti canons to give everyone an afternoon boost, Confidence Live was giving its all. And that was even more true when it came to the lineup.
Here’s some of my favourite takeaways from the event.
Kirsty Hulse: Intro and growth vs fixed mindset
Kirsty Hulse, host of Confidence Live, kicked off the conference with an introduction to the types of mindsets that people commonly have. She explained the differences between a growth mindset and a fixed mindset, and how this impacts our ability to grow in confidence and strive for more.
This quickly got me thinking about how as an agency it is vital for us to have a growth mindset to offer our best to our clients and to have a creative approach which embraces testing and failure.
My favourite quote from her talk was, “Fixed mindset does not allow us to be beginners. It does not allow us to fail and grow and try again”.
At Infinity Nation, we pride ourselves in being honest and in having integrity, which allows us to have open conversations with our clients about how we can adapt campaigns or change our approach to get the best results based on our experience.
And what does this all come down to? Confidence.
The importance of shared voices in the workplace
Throughout the conference, there were some moments which made me realise how important it is for businesses to take a truly custom approach to personal and professional development.
James Routledge touched on how different people have a different type of confidence, and how we must strive to find the right type of confidence that fits us as individuals and allows us to accept our own personality. And Harnaam Kaur encouraged us to follow our instinct as individuals and speak our own truths to see where it leads us.
At Infinity Nation one of our values is Teamship which focuses on collaboration and knowledge sharing and which encourages us to succeed and overcome challenges together.
One quote that has stayed with me is one which Kirsty Hulse said came from her nan: “Your lessons aren’t yours to keep, your lessons are yours to teach”.
Through having a diverse team with a diverse set of skills, we able to share knowledge to offer solutions that are a melting pot of approaches and mindsets.
We also have another value which supports our Challenge, and this encourages us as individuals to question and offer fresh perspective.
We are encouraged to have our own voice and are given the confidence to share it through the support of those around us. Because in order to challenge, our team, and their viewpoints, must be unique and varied.
A team will not be set up for success if individuals are not supported as individuals to grow their unique version of confidence.
Mark Briant – How to make mental health more accessible
One of the talks I found particularly insightful was Mark Briant’s talk on how to make mental health more accessible. He shared some top tips which I felt were particularly useful for those within a work environment.
- Learn to sit with discomfort.
Sometimes we need to get better at listening and understanding rather than jumping in and just trying to fill the silence or change the conversation without allowing others the space to open up.
- Create the right environment
Managers and businesses need to create the right environments for individuals to be vulnerable and open up about their mental health.
Sometimes a walk or something else active is a good approach to allow people to open up without sitting opposite their colleagues and having intense eye contact. - Build awareness of your mental health as an individual
Be curious in your approach to your own mental health. Take time to reflect on how you feel day to day and what your current mental state is.
Ask yourself what makes your mental health better and what makes it worse and learn to get to grips with your own mind so that you can open up to others.
There was a lot to unpack at Confidence Live, and my mind has been left brimming with ideas for how to support the team at Infinity Nation.
We pride ourselves on offering a very open and honest environment and are constantly striving to find new ways of supporting growth, development, and mental health in our team.
We can’t wait to see how the team continues to grow and develop this year.
